Is purchasing software today still a contemporary issue, or is it a thing of the past?

The consideration of alternatives in connection with the project “Automation of Inbound E-Mails” by Mobilkom Austria AG through Gerhard Jungwirth (Mobilkom Austria AG) and Andreas Icha (Aschauer EDV GmbH). Pentaho BI Suite as open-source alternative in the area of business intelligence.

“Open Source Software is here to stay,” is the conclusion of the analysts of the Gartner Group in their study from September 2007.  The Gartner Group further concludes: "By 2011, at least 80 % of all commercial software solutions will include substantive open source, equally for mission critical and non-mission critical applications." Reason enough to deal with and analyze the topic in order to determine how Open Source products can be implemented in your business. Is Open Source in the business application sector already ripe for the implementation in mission-critical applications?

These analyses have been conducted by Aschauer EDV – an Austrian electronic data processing firm – and the results were presented on the 11^th of November 2008 during the 2008 Praxis Days through actual praxis-related examples by Mobilkom Austria AG in conjunction with Mr. Gerhard Jungwirth (Mobilkom Austria AG) on the project “Automation of Inbound E-Mails”. Further introduced was the Pentaho BI-Suite as Open Source alternative in the sector business intelligence. In addition were these products introduced on both praxis-days in the exhibitor’s booth of Aschauer EDV.
